Privacy Policy

taxsaleproperty.ca ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Canadian law (PIPEDA).
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, and payment information when you create an account or subscribe. We also collect usage data automatically, such as pages visited, search queries, and properties saved, to improve our service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for identified purposes: providing and securing the Service; authenticating accounts; processing payments through Stripe; delivering purchased documents; sending necessary account, security, billing, and legal notices; sending property alerts or marketing only with the consent required by law; responding to support requests; preventing fraud; and improving the platform. We do not sell personal information. If we want to use it for a materially new purpose, we will explain that purpose and obtain consent where required before doing so.
3. Payment Processing
All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your credit card details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled. You can review it at stripe.com/privacy.
4. Email Communications
We send necessary transactional messages such as account verification, password reset, billing receipts, security notices, purchased-document delivery, and material legal updates. Property alerts and marketing messages are sent only on the consent basis shown when you subscribe. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time without affecting necessary service messages or the lawfulness of earlier processing.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling essential cookies may affect site functionality.
6. Data Retention
We retain account data while the account is active and only as long afterward as reasonably necessary for the identified purpose, security, dispute handling, or legal obligations. Following a verified deletion request, we delete or irreversibly de-identify personal information within 30 days unless law requires retention. Billing, tax, anti-fraud, consent, and transaction records may be retained for the period required by applicable law, commonly up to seven years. Backup copies expire through our normal retention cycle.
7. Your Rights (PIPEDA)
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to: access your personal information; correct inaccurate information; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. 8. Data Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including TLS in transit, encrypted storage where supported, least-privilege access, monitoring, and service-provider controls. No system is completely secure. We assess suspected breaches, keep legally required records, and notify affected individuals and the appropriate regulator when applicable law requires it.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy prospectively. We will identify the version and effective date and send the account email at least 30 days' notice of a material change that affects personal-information practices. Where a new use or other change requires consent, we will request affirmative consent instead of relying only on continued use.
